Some success stories. How recent grants were used.
Organization: DOMUS
Grant: To support community teen center
“Thank you for your generous support of our community center’s teen
programming initiative and for the opportunity to report on lives
transformed by your assistance. Among those helped is a teenager we’ll
call ‘David’. David was born addicted to crack and has struggled since birth. Since finding our community, David has found and held down a
summer job, remains arrest free and looks forward to passing the 9th
grade.”
Organization: Stamford Partnership
Grant: To provide English language classes for day laborers
“...enabled the program to transition to a near-year-round resource
accessed by an increasing proportion of (Stamford’s) day-laborer
population. Participation has almost doubled since the beginning of the
year.”
Organization: Pilgrim Towers

“The grant has had a transforming effect on the lives of our very needy
residents. It has enhanced the quality of their lives.”
Organization: St. Luke’s LifeWorks

Organization: New Neighborhoods
Grant: Expanding tenant advocate program
“With the assistance of your grant, we have been able to make a
tremendous impact on the lives of the disabled, seniors and 'shut-ins'.
The tenant advocate is now able to make almost daily home visits to ensure this population is safe and well cared for.”
Organization: Stamford Senior Center
Grant: English language classes for seniors
“ Our two Russian language classes are going strong...our program for
Haitian seniors is underway...and we expect to start a focused English class for Hispanic seniors this fall. Thank you again for your generous support.”
Organization: The Exchange Club, Parenting Skills Center
Grant: Support of families in crisis
“The return on our original grant proposal has been amazing! We have sixteen families already engaged and expect an additional sixteen to
twenty will be involved this fall. The families suffer with such issues as cultural isolation, crime and violence. Together we are making a huge
difference in the lives of many.”
Organization: NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness)
Grant: Services to residents surviving serious mental illness and their
families
“The Foundation’s funding of our initiatives has contributed to
increased momentum in other activities, creating what I believe to be
our most robust year to date.”
Organization: Senior Services of Stamford
Grant: Transportation for seniors
“With the help of the Foundation, the organization purchased a used
vehicle and hired a driver to transport our frail and elderly clients to
medical and dental appointments. Some 46 senior citizens have been driven to appointments that they could have not otherwise kept because
of difficulty negotiating public transportation.”
